The California “informal summit” between President Obama and President Xi Jinping and the upcoming annual meeting of the Strategic and Economic Dialogue in Washington in early July have generated new possibilities in U.S.-China relations. How realistic are the expectations of a new type of major power relations? What are the major issues that will shape bilateral relations in coming years, and how might they be influenced by the domestic policy agendas of both leaderships? What are some of the possible consequences for regional security, politics, and economics?
