On May 8, President Donald Trump declared that the U.S. would re-impose nuclear sanctions on Iran, withdrawing from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). At a precarious time for the Middle East, his decision will have important ramifications in the region and beyond.
On May 17, the Center for Middle East Policy (CMEP) at Brookings hosted a discussion on the consequences of President Trump’s decision on the JCPOA. The conversation featured Brookings scholars Robert Einhorn, Suzanne Maloney, and Bruce Riedel. Center Director Natan Sachs moderated the discussion.
After the discussion, panelists took questions from the audience.
