In the last few years there has been an accelerated effort from policymakers, community advocates, and corporations to advance equity in the United States. While the ultimate goal of equity is to ensure that all communities have the resources to thrive, it is not clear how we ensure the success of those efforts. What is well-being? And what are the strategies and policies that enable a range of communities in the U.S. to experience well-being?

On December 15, 2023, the Brookings Race, Prosperity, and Inclusion Initiative held a policy-focused conversation on community well-being. Panelists discussed what well-being is, the work they have conducted in a variety of communities on well-being, and the strategies and policy approaches that are important to putting diverse communities on the path to well-being and equity.
