Beyond the buzzword of globalization lies a rich and complex history of human connections that has built today’s interdependent world. In his book, Nayan Chanda reviews and illustrates the economic and technological forces of globalization by weaving together the history of science, politics, commerce, and religion that have created today’s international system.

On June 6, the Brookings Institution and the Asia Society hosted Chanda for a discussion about the past and future of globalization and how people can thrive in an interconnected world. Brookings President Strobe Talbott provided introductory remarks and Asia Society President Vishakha Desai served as a discussant.
