History Does Not Condemn Afghanistan to Failure or India and Pakistan to Rivalry There

There is no doubt that ongoing rivalries between India and Pakistan have exacerbated the conflict in Afghanistan, but the notion that these are locked in stone is no more true in this part of the world than it was in the Balkans in the 1990s. If Afghans work together, even outside powers won’t be able to impede some degree of progress in the country.
