Trillions of Dollars in Oil, Gas and Mining Revenue Still Shrouded in Secrecy

Daniel Kaufmann discusses the Resource Governance Index, released by the Revenue Watch Institute, which measures the transparency and accountability in the oil, gas and mining sector of 58 countries. While the index finds that over 80 percent of the countries fail to meet satisfactory governance standards, Kaufmann argues that there is still hope, and that responsibility for improving governance rests mostly with each country, its leadership, companies and civil society.
