The Brookings Institution Press is the renowned publishing arm of the Brookings Institution, a leading think tank in Washington, D.C. Brookings and its scholars are known worldwide as a trusted resource for rigorous research and innovative ideas across fields such as foreign policy, American politics and governance, current affairs, metropolitan policy, economics, and development.
With a history dating back to 1916, publishing has always been a core part of the Brookings Institution’s mission. Initially focused on publishing institutional research reports and papers, BI Press has since grown into a respected scholarly press, producing influential peer-reviewed titles that inform critical policy discussions.
In 2025, BI Press partnered with Bloomsbury’s academic division whose mission is to publish works of excellence and originality that educate and inform. This collaboration enables us to share the research and analysis of scholars—both within and outside the Institution—to a diverse global audience of readers, researchers, students, and policymakers. Our catalog of thought-provoking books is available here.
