On March 26, Foreign Policy at Brookings hosted General John Allen, commander of the International Security Assistance Force, for a discussion of the U.S. and NATO mission in Afghanistan.

Prior to his current assignment, General Allen served as deputy commander of the U.S. Central Command from June 2008 to July 2011. Senior Fellow Peter Singer, director of the 21st Century Defense Initiative at Brookings, provided introductory remarks. Brookings Senior Fellow Michael O’Hanlon, director of research for Foreign Policy, discussed the U.S. and allied mission with General Allen and moderated the discussion, including some questions from the audience.
