Five years after the height of the global financial crisis, much has been done to reform the financial system and prevent future crashes, but much still remains to be done.

On January 29, Economic Studies at Brookings hosted Nadia Calviño of the European Commission who presented a European view of the best path forward for an effective and globally consistent system of financial regulation, based on her years of experience at the center of European financial reform. Economic Studies at Brookings hosted this event to discuss these global financial market issues, moderated by Fellow Douglas Elliott.
