Colonel Jibril Rajub has been at the forefront of the Palestinian national movement for several decades and the former head of the Preventive Security Service in the West Bank. A member of the Fatah Revolutionary Council, Rajub spent 17 years in Israeli prison before being expelled in 1988. In 1994 Rajub returned to the West Bank to head the newly formed Preventive Security Force and played a leading role in strengthening Israeli-Palestinian security cooperation. In August 2003 Col. Rajub was appointed National Security Advisor.
