Health care represents a major challenge for many countries. Governments around the world must address rising health care costs, aging populations, access disparities and chronic illnesses. These issues present serious dilemmas for policymaking, budgets and service delivery. How can mobile technology inform policymakers, boost productivity, aid communications and help providers improve affordability, access and treatment?

On May 20, the Brookings-Tsinghua Center for Public Policy hosted a seminar featuring Darrell West to discuss on the latest trends in mobile technology and how the technological development will transform public health care in both China and the United States.

Darrell West is vice president and director of Governance Studies and holds the Douglas Dillon chair at the Brookings Institution. He is founding director of the Center for Technology Innovation at Brookings and editor-in-chief of TechTank. His current research focuses on educational technology, health information technology and mobile technology. Prior to coming to Brookings, West was the John Hazen White professor of political science and public policy and director of the Taubman Center for Public Policy at Brown University.
