Finding an affordable home in the Washington D.C. region has never been more challenging. Soaring rents and home prices in recent years have created financial stress for more families, especially low- and moderate-income households. Local governments, non-profit organizations, and private developers throughout the D.C. region are exploring creative ways to expand the supply of affordable housing, from leveraging private capital to a new take on social housing.
On Wednesday, November 9, Brookings Metro hosted an event to examine how innovations in housing finance can help families across the region achieve high-quality, stable, affordable housing.
