Government Affairs at Brookings

The Brookings Institution is a nonprofit think tank based in Washington, D.C. Our mission is to equip decisionmakers with nonpartisan research and policy strategies to create a more prosperous and secure country and world.

Brookings Government Affairs facilitates scholar engagement with policymakers at all levels through monthly policy discussions on Capitol Hill, open- and closed-door briefings, policy conferences, nationwide field events, expert testimony, and more.

Scholars at the Brookings Institution have wide-ranging expertise across topics and issue areas. Many also have experience working in government and have insight into the role research can play in informing public policy. To engage with Brookings, please contact us using the button below.

Products

We create short-form products that can help policymakers and their staff understand an issue quickly and introduce a scholar’s work. From brief explainer videos to mailers that consolidate research to policy podcasts, we aim to showcase our work in a way that is helpful and concise.

Ways to Engage with Brookings

Brookings scholars regularly conduct briefings for policymakers, testify before Congress, provide technical assistance upon request, participate in field hearings across the nation, host members of Congress and representatives from the administration for events at Brookings, and more. Brookings provides a nonpartisan platform for policymakers to engage with the wider policy community and facilitate dialogue from across the political spectrum.

Brookings on the Hill Events

Each month, Brookings organizes a lunchtime event on Capitol Hill, bringing together scholars and congressional staff to discuss the pressing issues of the day. Our events are open to all congressional staff, and attendees are encouraged to come with questions to facilitate an open, two-way dialogue.
