America’s supply chains face a myriad of challenges, including transportation logjams, high energy costs, a lack of domestic sourcing capabilities in some areas, and geopolitical complications, many of which came to light during the pandemic. The last several years have put a premium on companies boosting their supply chain resilience and risk mitigation for future shocks and have seen significant investments by governments in supply chain diversification.
On December 19, the Center for Technology Innovation at Brookings hosted Lael Brainard, White House national economic advisor for a discussion with Brookings Senior Fellow Darrell West on ways to strengthen and secure America’s supply chains, progress over the past four years during the Biden-Harris administration, and current challenges.
