On June 27, Foreign Policy at Brookings hosted a discussion on global views of the United States in conjunction with the release of the newest edition of Pew Research Center’s leading survey on America’s global image. In a period of increasing questions about U.S. global leadership, this survey explores, among other issues, how countries around the world view President Trump and his foreign policies, as well as overarching attitudes toward the United States.
Richard Wike, director of global attitudes research at Pew Research Center, opened the discussion with an overview of the survey’s findings. Brookings scholars Tarun Chhabra, Shadi Hamid, and Constanze Stelzenmüller, then joined Wike and Ely Ratner, of the Council on Foreign Relations, for a conversation on implications for U.S. foreign policy and the future of U.S. alliances and partnerships.
