The Saban Center for Middle East Policy at the Brookings Institution is please to host a policy luncheon with His Excellency, Dr. Marwan Muasher, Foreign Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

As Jordan’s chief diplomat, Dr. Muasher has served his country with great distinction, energy and creativity and has been instrumental in promoting an important regional role for Jordan at the same time as strengthening its relations with the United States. He served as Jordan’s Ambassador to the United States from September 1997 to January 2002, and during that time played an instrumental role in securing the U.S.-Jordan Free Trade Agreement. Prior to that he served as the first Jordanian Ambassador to Israel and as Jordan’s Minister for Information. As a member of Jordan’s negotiating team, he also played a significant role in the achievement of the Jordan-Israel Peace Agreement, whose tenth anniversary will be celebrated next month. Dr. Muasher received a Ph.D. in computer engineering from Purdue University and is also a graduate of the American University of Beirut.
