Tetsuro Fujimoto

Federal Executive Fellow – Foreign Policy, Strobe Talbott Center for Security, Strategy, and Technology, Colonel – Japan Air Self-Defense Force

Col. Fujimoto joined the Japan Air Self-Defense Force as an air defense artillery officer in 2004. Before his Brookings fellowship, Col. Fujimoto’s previous post was Staff, 1st Operations Division, Operations Department, Joint Staff Office (J-3), Japan Ministry of Defense. In that role, he led contingency planning and crisis management, responding to emergency and incident operations such as North Korean ballistic missile launches and intrusions in territorial airspace. His areas of expertise include international security policy, integrated air and missile defense, and Japan and East Asia defense policy. He is a graduate of the National Defense Academy in Yokosuka, Japan.
