Lt. Col. Tomohiro Sato is an F-15 pilot in the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) and most recently served as squadron commander for the 204th Squadron at Naha Air Base. He has also worked in the Defense Division of the Air Staff Office, where he was involved in budget preparation and aircraft readiness, and in the Human Resources Department, where he reviewed and coordinated the allocation of pilots throughout the JASDF. Lt. Col. Sato also has conducted research on the training of personnel at the JASDF Command and Staff College and has experience as an instructor pilot. His areas of interest include security in the Indo-Pacific, particularly in the East China Sea; military use of unmanned aerial vehicles; logistics in the event of an East China Sea contingency; and organizational personnel planning.
