Neil Heffernan
Professor Neil Heffernan is the director of the PhD program Learning Science and Technologies at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and before that, he was an inner city math teacher in the Teach For America program. In 1997 he was diagnosed with brain cancer and given three years to live, which thankfully was wrong, but it inspired him to make a big difference in the world and now he gives away ASSISTments as free public service, hoping it will be like Wikipedia someday (but for questions and feedback, not encyclopedia entries).
