A native of Marion (Perry County) Alabama and public schools, Dr. Cathy Trimble obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of West Alabama and returned to her alma mater, Francis Marion High School with a goal of being a change agent in her community. She began as a substitute teacher and remained committed to her school until eventually she became principal. Under her leadership, the underperforming school, which was consistently on the failing school list, not only came off the failing school list but eventually received one of Alabama’s banner awards. Teach for America has named an administrator award, the Dr. Cathy Trimble Administrator of the Year Award because of her transformative leadership.
After one month of retirement from FMS, she became principal at Banks Academy, a private school in Birmingham, AL. In three (3) years, the school’s enrollment has increased by over 100%, and is one of the fastest-growing schools in Birmingham. Dr. Trimble is married to Dr. Anthony Trimble. They are the proud parents of three (3) adult children and three (3) grandchildren.
