Share of students with access to charter schools, by state

Charter schools can encourage innovation and improvement in the education sector by fostering competition. Yet, to achieve this outcome, students must have reasonable access to charter schools. This Hamilton Project economic analysis examines the variation in charter school access and enrollment by state, both over time and across student characteristics.
