Ibrahim Fraihat (also known as Ibrahim Sharqieh) was a senior fellow at the Brookings Doha Center, and an affiliate scholar at Georgetown University. He is the author of the book "Unfinished Revolutions: Yemen, Libya, and Tunisia after the Arab Spring" (Yale University Press, 2016). He previously taught international conflict resolution at George Washington University and George Mason University. His research focuses on conflict resolution and post-conflict reconstruction in the Arab world, with a particular emphasis on conflict management and mediation, transitions, national reconciliation, national dialogue, and institutional reform.

Fraihat has published extensively on Middle East politics, with articles appearing in Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, the Financial Times, and the Christian Science Monitor, on the CNN and Al Jazeera websites, and elsewhere. Fraihat received a master’s in international studies from Birzeit University in Palestine and a doctorate in conflict analysis and resolution from George Mason University in 2006. He is the recipient of George Mason University’s Distinguished Alumni Award (2014) for his achievements in the field of conflict resolution.
