Alvin Vista is a fellow in the Center for Universal Education at the Brookings Institution. His research focuses on the assessment of 21st century skills.

He previously served as a research fellow at the Australian Council for Educational Research working as an assessment specialist in several large-scale international, regional, and national surveys. He was also previously affiliated with the University of Melbourne as a research fellow at the Assessment Research Centre and as a sessional lecturer at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education.

Vista has experience working with regional and national organizations in India, South East Asia, and the South Pacific on national and regional student assessment projects. He holds a bachelor's degree in Education from the University of the Philippines, an M.A. in Educational Psychology from the University of Georgia, which he attended as a Fulbright scholar, and a Ph.D. in Educational Measurement from the University of Melbourne.
