The 2024 Republican National Convention showcased a rare scenario. This was former President Donald Trump’s third convention in a row as the party’s nominee as he attempts to defeat President Biden, the man who defeated him four years ago. Conventions are a rare opportunity for the parties to showcase support for their selected presidential candidates. They can also serve as a venue to hash out inner-party disagreements and come to a consensus on a broader agenda for their national vision.
On July 22, Governance Studies at Brookings hosted a webinar to discuss the Republican National Convention and what it means for the November elections. Viewers submitted questions for speakers by emailing [email protected] and via X (formerly Twitter) at @BrookingsGov by using #RNCTakeaways.
