As nations recover from the global economic crises, world finance leaders will gather in Washington on October 9 for the IMF and World Bank meetings. Issues will include the economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development, aid effectiveness and continued efforts to stabilize the global economy. Governance is also a hot topic, with the United States and developing countries calling for reform to better represent non-Euro countries.
On October 6, Homi Kharas, current Brookings senior fellow former chief economist at the World Bank and author of the recent book Delivering Aid Differently, previewed the upcoming annual meetings in a live web chat moderated by Seung Min Kim, assistant editor at POLITICO.
