Upcoming Event
As states prepare for the 2026 Opportunity Zone redesignation process, what can we learn from the first generation of Opportunity Zones?
On October 22, the Brookings Institution and AmericaFWD will convene practitioners, policymakers, investors, and community leaders to discuss new research that examines the impacts of Opportunity Zones and what those findings mean for the program’s future. Tracy Hadden Loh of Brookings and Christopher Coes of AmericaFWD will present key findings from their recent report, followed by a conversation with leaders working across investment, economic development, and state policy.
The discussion will explore what the data tells us about the program’s first iteration, where outcomes varied across communities, and what states and communities can take from these lessons as they approach the 2026 redesignation process. Panelists will consider how the updated Opportunity Zones program can better connect designation with investment, project readiness, and broader community and economic development goals.
The event will conclude with an audience Q&A. Viewers can submit questions via e-mail to [email protected]
