Manufacturing firms must contend with big forces outside their control such as AI, robotics, trade, tariffs, war, and energy. Any one of these developments could present seismic shifts in the status quo but happening all at once they leave U.S businesses grappling with uncertainty. As a result, executives must navigate strong headwinds to create sustainable business strategies for the future.

On July 9, as part of the fifteenth annual John Hazen White Forum on Public Policy, Governance Studies at Brookings will host a two-panel discussion about manufacturing policy.
