Future of Coal in India: Smooth Transition or Bumpy Road Ahead?
Content from the Brookings Institution India Center is now archived. After seven years of an impactful partnership, as of September 11, 2020, Brookings India is now the Centre for Social and Economic Progress, an independent public policy institution based in India.
Brookings India hosted a briefing by the Japanese Ambassador to India, Kenji Hiramatsu, in the run up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Japan on October 28th-29th for the annual India- Japan summit. Ambassador Hiramatsu outlined the main areas of convergence between India and Japan, which included deepening maritime cooperation, specifically in the Indo-Pacific; defense and security cooperation; development cooperation, and people to people contacts. The briefing was public and open to the media.
