Content from the Brookings Institution India Center is now archived. After seven years of an impactful partnership, as of September 11, 2020, Brookings India is now the Centre for Social and Economic Progress, an independent public policy institution based in India.

The launch of the book, “India Transformed: 25 Years of Economic Reforms”, edited by Rakesh Mohan, Distinguished Fellow, Brookings India, published by Penguin India and Brookings India, took place on Wednesday 23 August, 2017 at the Taj Palace Hotel, Colaba, Mumbai.

The book was released by Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister of State (I/C) for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy and Mines.

A panel discussion with Viral Acharya, Chanda Kochhar, Anand Mahindra, and Rakesh Mohan followed.

About the book:

What kind of economic reforms were carried out in 1991 and how did they affect the country? What were our expectations then, and what has been achieved or not since? “India Transformed: 25 Years of Economic Reforms” is the ultimate compendium on the 1991 reforms and a celebration of the luminaries who have been a part of this journey.
