Beyond the buzzword: Collaboration for transformed education systems

Now more than ever, education leaders at all levels need to collaborate to create lasting change in both education outcomes and how education is understood, delivered, and experienced. But how can we prevent collaboration from becoming another buzzword?

On November 13, the Center for Universal Education will introduce the Collaboration Conversation series. We will provide an overview of the Knowing-Doing Network (KDN), a global community dedicated to transforming education systems to ensure that children and youth are able to learn what they want and need to thrive. This first session will explore the foundational “whats,” “whys,” “hows,” and evolving sense of purpose for the KDN.

During this discussion, KDN members from around the world will share their journeys into the network, insights from our collective work, and strategies for meaningful collaboration. Key questions we’ll explore include: Why are global spaces for collaborative research and learning essential? How can we co-create these spaces to center local knowledge, experience, and priorities? And how can we stay clear about our collective goals?

This session will also set the stage for the rest of the series, previewing practical approaches to collaborative research and action that we’ll unpack further in upcoming webinars.

Viewers can submit questions via email to [email protected] or via X/Twitter @BrookingsGlobal using #KnowingDoing.

This event is part of the five-part series Collaboration Conversations on power, localization, and education systems transformation.
