On Saturday, April 29, Brookings Metro welcomed artist and activist John Legend to commemorate the launch of a new partnership between Brookings and John Legend’s initiative, HUMANLEVEL, which aims to drive systemic change and build racial equity across American cities and communities.
Bending the Moral Arc Toward (Racial) Justice explored the stories of people and places that are having a positive impact on the well-being of Black and other marginalized communities across the country. The event spotlighted new research from Brookings Senior Fellows and project co-leads Dr. Camille Busette and Dr. Andre Perry, featuring new data on well-being from Brookings’s recent research publication, We need to talk about well-being: Why the study of well-being is crucial for race relations and advancing prosperity. The event also featured a moderated discussion with John Legend and grassroots leaders focused on eliminating barriers that cause racial and economic stratification.
