Program Leader, Infrastructure and Sustainable Development, Central Asia – World Bank

Paul Vallely is currently the World Bank’s Program Leader for Infrastructure and Sustainable Development for the Central Asia Region. Paul is based in the World Bank’s Central Asia Regional Office in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Paul has over 30 years of experience working on development issues, mainly in the transport sector, on a diverse range of projects in Central Asia, Europe, South Asia, and East Asia and the Pacific. For his assignment in Central Asia, Paul works with the Bank’s Global Practices for Transport, Digital Development, Energy and Extractives, Social, Urban, Rural and Resilience, and Environment. He also oversees activities to address climate change and Public Private Partnerships in the Bank’s Central Asia program. His interests include trade facilitation and logistics in terms of issues relating to both regional trade in Central Asia and the impact of the Belt and Road Initiative on Central Asia.
