Migrants, Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons
This [migrant] referendum is completely symbolic. This is far more about challenging the authority of the E.U. institution than it is about stopping migrants and refugees.
The idea of trying to focus international attention on this [refugee] crisis, to try to galvanize international support, makes sense...They [refugees] don't need a handout. They just need an opportunity to be able to stand on their own two feet.
I spoke at length with a Syrian refugee who talked about his deep disappointment that he was a very successful dentist in Syria, but now he's unemployed in Germany...People are very concerned that with all these unplanned arrivals of refugees, they could unintentionally not be integrated, which would create parallel societies.
