Abstract:
From the Middle East peace negotiations to U.S.-Iran nuclear talks, many international problems could benefit from discussion and cooperative efforts by religious and diplomatic communities. This paper analyzes how to bring differing religious and diplomatic frameworks together to encourage shared understanding and mutually beneficial collaboration between these groups.
Among the Key Findings:

As politics is increasingly infused with religion and religion with politics, greater diplomatic and religious cooperation is needed to promote human rights, community engagement, and global peace.

Diplomatic engagement with religion must recognize the complexities and context of religious affairs, just as diplomats tailor political, cultural, economic, and other engagement avenues to specific circumstances.

Inter-faith interventions can benefit some situations due to strong shared core values, but the context must be considered first to avoid potentially aggravating the situation.
