Former Brookings Expert – Brookings India, Executive Director – IMF

Subir Gokarn was the director of research for Brookings India in New Delhi. He left in November 2015 to become executive director of India’s mission at the International Monetary Fund(IMF). Before coming to Brookings, he was the deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India, where he oversaw monetary policy, research, financial markets, communications, and deposit insurance.
