H.E. Ahmad Bin Abdullah Bin Zaid Al-Mahmoud

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for the Council of Ministers Affairs, Qatar

Ahmad Bin Abdullah Bin Zaid Al-Mahmoud is the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for the Council of Ministers Affairs, Qatar. Currently, he is also a member of the Higher Committee for Development Planning, chairman of the Qatar Development Fund, deputy chairman of the of the Board of Trustees of the University of Qatar, and manager of the Darfur dossier on behalf of Qatar’s mediation efforts. Previously, he served as a member and reporter for the Committee for the Permanent Constitution of the State of Qatar, chairman of the Permanent Committee of the Projects for the Development of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, member of the Minister’s Council, minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the United States and Oman, and as a nonresident ambassador to Mexico and Venezuela. Al-Mahmoud also served as the representative to the Ministry of Foreign affairs in the Qatari National Committee of Education, Culture, and Science, and also as the head of the ministry’s Economic Affairs Section. Al-Mahmoud began his career as third secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and has served in the diplomatic corps since. He received his M.Sc. in Economics from Central Michigan University and B.A. in Arabic and Islamic Studies from Cairo University.
