State Politics Reporter – Richmond Times Dispatch

Charlotte Rene Woods is an award-winning journalist with a passion for solutions journalism and a special love for writing about government at the local, state and national level. As a politics reporter at Richmond Times-Dispatch she covers Virginia’s governor and other members of the executive branch, the state legislature, and members of Congress. She was also a local government reporter in Charlottesville for several years where her work chronicled changes in city hall and the police department following the deadly Unite the Right rally and the years-long process to remove Charlottesville’s Confederate monuments. Charlotte has also worked for various other publications in Virginia reporting on politics and business. She earned her bachelor’s degree from The New School in New York City and her master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.
