Commander Brendan Stickles (US Navy) joins Brookings as a 2018-2019 Federal Executive Fellow. He most recently served as the Commanding Officer of the Electronic Attack Squadron 130 (VAQ-130), based in Whidbey Island WA. Prior to that, he spent his junior officer tour flying “Prowlers” in Atsugi Japan with VAQ-136, where he was awarded an Air Medal with Combat “V” during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Throughout his career, he has logged more than 3,500 flight hours and has completed over 500 carrier landings in EA-6B, F/A-18, and EA-18G aircraft. CDR Stickles earned his bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Naval Academy. He holds a Master in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina and a Master in Public Administration from Harvard. He and his wife Katie have a daughter and two sons.
