Alison joined Planned Parenthood in 2008, where she has served in several leadership positions, including Community Organizing Manager, Director of Public Affairs/Lobbyist and Senior Director of Communications. Since 2016, Alison has held the role of Senior Director of External Affairs at Planned Parenthood South Atlantic (PPSAT) and serves as the Executive Director of its advocacy and political arm, Planned Parenthood Votes South Atlantic (PPVSAT). In these roles, she manages the organizations’ community organizing, communications, public policy, and electoral work across North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia, and western Virginia.
Alison is a current member of Governor Roy Cooper’s Council for Women and was recently honored as the American Public Health Association’s 2023 Public Health Social Worker of the Year. She previously served as the board president of North Carolina Women United, a statewide organization working to achieve full economic, social and political equality for women. Additionally, she has taught as an adjunct professor in NC State University’s Department of Social Work. Alison earned her Bachelor’s degree and Master’s in Social Work from UNC-Chapel Hill, focusing on Management and Community Practice, and holds a Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership.
