Obama and Karzai Meet in Washington

President Barack Obama and Afghan president Hamid Karzai held talks in Washington this week. Although the two leaders meet annually to discuss matters of state, this year’s talks are critically important for both governments as they attempt to restore a level of trust that has been eroding for months. Senior Fellow Vanda Felbab-Brown says the situation between Washington and Kabul is tenuous and that the importance of these talks cannot be underestimated.
