On October 15, the Center on the United States and Europe at Brookings and the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TUSIAD) hosted a conference to assess the potential outcomes of the upcoming U.S. presidential election and their likely impact on relations with Turkey and the region. The panel discussion took place at the Marmara Hotel in Istanbul and featured four distinguished American and Turkish commentators: Brookings Senior Fellow and Director of Research for Foreign Policy Michael O’Hanlon; Managing Director at McLarty Associates and U.S. Chair of Global Zero Richard Burt; Soli Özel of Kadir Has University and Habertürk Daily; and Cengiz Çandar of Radikal Daily.

Ümit Boyner, president of TUSIAD, offered introductory comments. Volkan Vural, TUSIAD board member and former Turkish Ambassador, moderated the question and answer session with the audience.
