Pakistan’s 2024 election followed two years of intense political turmoil and an ongoing economic crisis in the country. The results of this election will have stark consequences for Pakistan and the future of its democracy, its society, and its economy.
On February 15, the Center for Middle East Policy at Brookings hosted an event to discuss the conduct and the outcome of the election and what to expect from the new government, as well as the future of civil-military relations in Pakistan. The panel also discussed the future of Pakistan’s relationships with the rest of the world, in particular the United States, China, and India.
