On October 20, the Brookings Center for Sustainable Development is hosting a public discussion of the new USAID Policy Framework. The discussion will focus on the implications for U.S. international development leadership and how USAID implements its programs.
The USAID Policy Framework is a core strategic document that synthesizes the policies of the U.S. Agency for International Development, so that USAID staff, stakeholders, and partners understand the agency’s priorities in advancing sustainable development. This new framework replaces the previous version launched in April of 2019. The discussion among current and former senior U.S. Government officials and civil society leaders will consider how the new policy framework alters the U.S. approach to development and its connection to U.S. foreign and security policy and other international priorities.
The event will commence with a presentation on the new framework by Isobel Coleman, USAID’s deputy administrator for policy and programming, followed by a panel discussion with leaders in global sustainable development, moderated by Brookings Senior Fellow Tony Pipa.
The audience can submit questions for the panel in person, or virtually by emailing [email protected] or via Twitter using #USAIDPolicy.
If you are attending in person, Brookings requires all staff and visitors to show proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 via vaccines approved by the FDA or WHO. After submitting your registration, please proceed to the provided link on the confirmation page to complete the registration process by verifying your vaccination information.
