As a member of the Board of Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) 2005, current FDIC Chairman Martin Gruenberg was deeply involved in the agency’s efforts to maintain and restore public confidence in the financial system before, during, and after the financial crisis.
On November 14, the Center on Regulation and Markets at Brookings hosted Chairman Gruenberg for remarks on his experiences leading the nation’s deposit insurer, challenges to the financial system moving forward, and whether the U.S. is prepared to handle the next financial crisis at home and abroad. Following Chairman Gruenberg’s address and question and answer session, a panel of experts reacted to the Chairman’s remarks.
