Over the course of his career, FDIC Chairman Martin Gruenberg has participated in the response to three financial crises: the thrift and banking crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s, the global financial crisis of 2008, and the three large regional bank failures in the spring of 2023. On January 14, he will discuss the causes of those crises and the lessons they offer for today and the future. Following his speech, Gruenberg will join a fireside chat with Brookings Senior Fellow Aaron Klein.
This event is a part of the Center on Regulation and Markets Series on Financial Markets and Regulation. Viewers can join the conversation and ask questions in advance by emailing [email protected] or on X @BrookingsEcon using the hashtag #FutureofReg.
