The credit union movement was founded by nonprofit, mission-focused institutions in the spirit of cooperation and with the values of equality, equity, and helping fellow members. Today credit unions have grown to over 142 million members and more than $2.3 trillion in assets. Given the economic challenges millions of American families face in making ends meet and accessing affordable credit through sustainable financial services, it is critical that credit unions fulfill their mission and serve their members, especially those of modest means. On May 1, National Credit Union Administration former Board member and former Chair Todd M. Harper will speak on the future of credit union regulation, reflecting on his former position on the Board and his tenure as Chair.
