An Overview of the Washington DC Region

October 24, 2005

This presentation by Martha Ross at a meeting of the Washington Regional Network for Liveable Communities describes the demographic and employment characteristics of the Washington metropolitan region. Overall, the region is prospering with low unemployment rates, high incomes and job growth, but also faces problems with housing affordability, areas with high poverty and unemployment rates, and an east-west divide along income and racial lines.
