On September 25, the United Nations will convene a two-day Sustainable Development Summit in New York, bringing together countries from around the world to discuss issues surrounding the implementation of the post-2015 development agenda and the newly adopted Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
On September 22, the Global Economy and Development program at Brookings hosted an informal discussion with IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde, in which she shared her expectations for achieving the ambitious set of SDGs and discussed the IMF’s role in helping ensure a supportive global environment for sustainable and inclusive growth. Ms. Lagarde focused particularly on the IMF’s role in setting policies with its member countries in pursuit of the SDGs and policies to address climate change.
