On July 27, the Brookings Center for East Asia Policy Studies hosted Dr. Akihiko Tanaka, president of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), for a presentation on Japan’s diplomacy and international development aid strategy under the Abe administration, specifically looking at overseas development aid as a tool in making proactive contributions to peace.

Following Dr. Tanaka’s presentation, David Dollar, senior fellow with the Brookings John L. Thornton China Center, offered comments before the floor was opened to questions from the audience.
