On April 28, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry released the second Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review (QDDR), Enduring Leadership in a Dynamic World. A joint effort by the State Department and USAID, the QDDR sets U.S. government objectives in four policy arenas: preventing conflict and violent extremism, promoting resilient, democratic societies, advancing inclusive economic growth, and mitigating climate change. It also identifies the operations of the agencies, including the effective use of data, diagnostics, and design.
On May 14, Brookings hosted a discussion on the data and knowledge objectives of the QDDR, focusing on specific actions to translate U.S. priorities into practical actions.
The event featured keynote remarks from Tom Perriello, special representative for the QDDR, followed by a panel discussion moderated by Brookings senior fellow George Ingram.
